Nutmeat Patty

Method

Nutmeat Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Nutmeat Mixture

In a food processor, combine walnuts, almonds, and chickpeas. Pulse until finely chopped but not pureed.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

Transfer the nut and chickpea mixture to a mixing bowl. Add flaxseed meal, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  3. 3

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

Slice the whole wheat buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

  2. 6

    Add Sauce

Spread 1 tablespoon of your chosen sauce on the bottom half of each bun.

  3. 7

    Layer the Toppings

Place the cooked nutmeat patty on top of the sauce. Add sliced onions, pickles, tomatoes, shredded romaine, and sprouts on top of the patty.

  4. 8

    Complete the Burger

Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently. Repeat for the remaining patties.
