Burger Patties

Toppings

Chili Sauce

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Making the Chili Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 6

    Grill the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 7

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 9

    Add Toppings

Layer lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and jalapeños on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top.

  3. 10

    Add Chili Sauce

Spoon some of the prepared chili sauce over the patty, then close the burger with the top half of the bun.
