Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add cocoa powder and mix well. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, alternating between them, until the desired consistency is reached. Stir in vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting over the top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dessert

Slice the chocolate cake and serve each slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
