Baklava Preparation

Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, chopped pistachios, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

Prepare the Phyllo Dough
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and brush with melted butter. Repeat this process, layering 8 sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.

Assemble the Baklava
After laying 8 sheets of phyllo, sprinkle a portion of the nut mixture over the dough. Continue layering phyllo sheets (about 4 sheets at a time) and adding nuts until you run out of filling. Finish with about 8 layers of phyllo on top, brushing each with butter.

Cut and Bake
Using a sharp knife, cut the assembled baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve
