Gyro Rice Bowl Ingredients
Method
Preparation Instructions
- 1
Cook the Rice
Rinse the rice under cold water. In a pot, combine the rice with water (1.5 cups for white rice or 2 cups for brown rice) and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes (or according to package instructions) until cooked. Fluff with a fork.
- 2
Prepare the Gyro Meat
If using pre-cooked gyro meat, heat it in a skillet over medium heat until warmed through. If preparing from scratch, season the meat with spices (like garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper) and cook until browned.
- 3
Assemble the Salad
In a bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, diced tomato, sliced onion, sliced olives, and crumbled feta cheese. Drizzle with dressing and toss to combine.
- 4
Assemble the Bowl
In a serving bowl, start with a base of rice, top with warmed gyro meat, and add the salad mixture on the side. Drizzle tzatziki sauce over the gyro meat and season with salt and pepper to taste.
