Method

Cupcake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tray with cupcake liners.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Fill Cupcake Liners

Scoop the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Allow the cupcakes to cool in the tray for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare Cream Cheese Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and unsalted butter together until smooth and creamy.

  2. 9

    Add Sugar and Vanilla

Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and fluffy.

  3. 10

    Frost Cupcakes

Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost them generously with the cream cheese frosting using a spatula or piping bag.
