Fries

Method

Preparation of Fries

  1. 1

    Wash and Cut Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under cold water to remove any dirt. Cut each potato into evenly sized strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to ensure uniform cooking.

  2. 2

    Soak Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and lay them out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for best results.

  2. 5

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-6 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  3. 6

    Season with Salt

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste. Toss gently to ensure even seasoning.

Topping

  1. 7

    Prepare the Topping

In a large bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried parsley, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. 8

    Coat the Fries

Once the fries are cooked and seasoned, add them to the bowl with the Parmesan mixture. Toss gently until the fries are evenly coated with the cheesy garlic topping.

Garnishing

  1. 9

    Serve

Transfer the Parmesan garlic fries to a serving platter. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added color and flavor. Serve immediately while hot.
