Method

Prepare the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the lettuce, tomato, and onion.

  2. 6

    Toast the Buns

Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  3. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the cooked patty, followed by lettuce, tomato, and onion. Add any condiments you prefer, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
