Flatbread

Method

Flatbread Preparation

1

Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

3

Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.

4

Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5

Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembling the Flatbread

6

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

7

Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangular shape about 1/4 inch thick.

8

Add Cheese Toppings

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan cheeses evenly over the flatbread, then add the sliced fresh mozzarella.

9

Bake Flatbread

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the cheese is bubbly.

10

Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve warm.
