Method
Pretzel Sticks
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 6
Shape Pretzel Sticks
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick, about 12 inches long.
- 7
Prepare Boiling Water
In a large pot, bring about 8 cups of water to a boil. Add baking soda to the boiling water.
- 8
Boil Pretzel Sticks
Boil each pretzel stick for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- 9
Bake Pretzel Sticks
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
