Method
Pork Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Ensure it is evenly coated.
- 2
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

Make the BBQ Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well.
- 4
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Final Assembly
- 5
Shred the Pork
Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- 6
Mix with BBQ Sauce
Add the shredded pork to the prepared BBQ sauce and stir until well coated.
- 7
Toast the Buns
Lightly toast the hamburger buns on a grill or in a toaster.
- 8
Assemble the Sandwiches
Place a generous amount of the BBQ pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw if desired, and place the top half of the bun on top.
