Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew Coffee

Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

    Prepare Coffee Soak

In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee with the coffee liqueur, if using.

Making the Cream Mixture

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  2. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth and fully integrated.

  3. 5

    Whip Heavy Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until no streaks remain.

Assembly of Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Soak Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long, and lay them in a single layer in a dish.

  2. 8

    Layer Cream

Spread half of the cream mixture over the soaked ladyfingers.

  3. 9

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining cream mixture.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 10

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  2. 11

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

  3. 12

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled.
