Method

For the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Coarsely crush the black peppercorns using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder. Rub the crushed peppercorns and salt onto both sides of the steaks.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time based on your preferred doneness.

  4. 4

    Add Flavor

During the last minute of cooking, add butter, crushed garlic cloves, and fresh thyme to the skillet. Baste the steaks with the melted butter and aromatics.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

For the Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop potatoes into chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with water.

  2. 7

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes until they are tender.

  3. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

For the Green Beans

  1. 9

    Prepare the Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water.

  2. 10

    Sauté the Green Beans

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the green beans, salt, and garlic powder. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.
