Prepare the Steaks
Take the filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature, about 30 minutes before cooking.

Season the Steaks
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

Sear the Steaks
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Rest the Steaks
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Cook the Garlic
While the potatoes are cooking, peel and crush the garlic cloves. In a small saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat and sauté the garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn it.
