Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Mix Together
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Then, stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and thin.

Bake the Cake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake
Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

Prepare for Baking
Grease four ramekins and divide the molten center mixture evenly among them.

Bake Molten Centers
Bake the ramekins in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 12-14 minutes until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

Serve
Let the molten centers cool for a minute, then carefully invert them onto plates and serve warm with the chocolate cake.
