Calamari Preparation

Prepare the Squid
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.

Coat the Squid
Dip each calamari ring into the beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour mixture until evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Season with additional salt if desired.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Simmer the Sauce
Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish the Sauce
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving. Remove from heat.
