Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the patty tender.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions. Form each portion into a round patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
