Method

Sauce Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Sauce

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Season

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, followed by salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Stir well to combine.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.

Pizza Assembly and Baking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 250°C (482°F) and place a pizza stone inside if you have one.

  2. 5

    Roll out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 6

    Spread the Sauce

Evenly spread a generous amount of the prepared tomato sauce over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 7

    Add Cheese and Basil

Place the sliced fresh mozzarella evenly on top of the sauce. Scatter the fresh basil leaves over the cheese.

  5. 8

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Lightly drizzle olive oil over the pizza for added flavor.

  6. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  7. 10

    Slice and Serve

Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven. Allow it to cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve hot.
