Method

Preparing the Espresso

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Using an espresso machine, brew 2 shots of espresso. If you don't have an espresso machine, you can use a stovetop espresso maker or a French press, but traditional espresso is preferred for richness.

  2. 2

    Set Aside

Once brewed, set the espresso shots aside in a warm cup to keep them hot while you prepare the milk.

Frothing the Milk

  1. 3

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of whole milk over medium heat until steaming, but do not let it boil.

  2. 4

    Froth the Milk

Using a milk frother or a whisk, froth the heated milk until it has doubled in volume and has a creamy texture. If you don’t have a frother, you can shake the milk vigorously in a jar with a lid.

  3. 5

    Add Flavor

Incorporate 1 tsp of vanilla extract and add sugar to taste into the frothed milk, stirring gently to combine.

Assembling the Cappuccino

  1. 6

    Combine Espresso and Milk

Pour the frothed milk over the prepared espresso, allowing the foam to sit on top of the coffee.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Dust the top of the cappuccino with 1 tsp of cocoa powder and sprinkle ground cinnamon to taste for an extra flavor boost.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your homemade cappuccino!
