Preparation of Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Prepare Romaine
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place in a large salad bowl.
Making Croutons
- 2
Prepare the Croutons
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into small cubes (about 1 inch). In a bowl, mix the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, dried oregano, and salt until evenly coated.
- 3
Bake the Croutons
Spread the coated bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Making Caesar Dressing
- 4
Prepare the Dressing
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper. Whisk together until smooth and well blended.
Assembling the Salad
- 5
Combine Ingredients
Once the croutons are cooled, add them to the bowl with the chopped romaine. Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine, ensuring all the lettuce and croutons are coated.
- 6
Top with Parmesan
Sprinkle the shredded Parmesan cheese over the top of the salad as a finishing touch.
