Cake Base Preparation
- 1
Brew Coffee
Start by brewing a strong cup of coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur for added flavor.
- 2
Soak Ladyfingers
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with sugar. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Mascarpone Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare Egg Yolks
In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and powdered sugar until they become pale and fluffy.
- 4
Combine Mascarpone
Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined.
- 5
Whip Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- 6
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
Assembly and Serving
- 7
Layer Tiramisu
In a suitable serving dish, lay half of the soaked ladyfingers in a single layer. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.
- 9
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- 10
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
