Mushroom Preparation

Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is hot when you place the stuffed mushrooms inside.

  2. 2

    Clean the Mushrooms

Gently clean the large button mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Avoid soaking them in water.

  3. 3

    Remove Stems

Carefully twist and remove the stems from the mushrooms. Set the caps aside and chop the stems finely.

  4. 4

    Sauté Stems

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped mushroom stems and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until soft.

Stuffing Mixture

  1. 5

    Prepare the Stuffing

In a mixing bowl, combine the sautéed mushroom stems, cream cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 6

    Stuff the Mushrooms

Using a small spoon, fill each mushroom cap with the cheese and herb mixture, pressing down gently to pack it well.

Baking

  1. 7

    Prepare for Baking

Place the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet. Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the tops of the stuffed mushrooms for added flavor.

  2. 8

    Bake the Mushrooms

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the tops are golden brown.

  3. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm as an appetizer or a side dish.
