Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preparing the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps them cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Seasoning the Steak

Rub both sides of each ribeye steak with olive oil. Then, season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Place a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat and allow it to get very hot, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Searing the Steak

Once the pan is hot, carefully place the ribeye steaks into the pan. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time based on your preferred doneness.

  3. 5

    Basting with Butter

During the last minute of cooking, add butter and fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) to the pan. Use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.

  4. 6

    Resting the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and place them on a cutting board. Let them rest for about 5-10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.
