Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Steaks
Remove the filet mignon steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.
- 2
Season the Steaks
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 4
Sear the Steaks
Add the seasoned filet mignon steaks to the pan. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them to develop a nice crust.
- 5
Flip and Cook
Flip the steaks using tongs and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time based on your desired doneness.
- 6
Resting
- 7
Rest the Steaks
Remove the steaks from the skillet and transfer them to a plate. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and let them rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
Serving
- 8
Serve
Slice the filet mignon against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked filet mignon!
