Method

Preparing the Espresso

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Using an espresso machine, brew 2 shots of espresso (approximately 60ml) with fresh coffee grounds. Make sure the espresso is rich and full-bodied.

  2. 2

    Heat the Water

In a small pot or kettle, heat 60ml of water until it reaches a near-boiling point (about 90-95°C). This water will be used to dilute the espresso slightly, if desired.

Frothing the Milk

  1. 3

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, heat 150ml of whole milk over medium heat. Do not let it boil; aim for a temperature of about 65°C.

  2. 4

    Froth the Milk

Using a milk frother or steam wand, froth the heated milk until it is creamy and has a thick layer of foam on top. This should take about 30 seconds.

Assembling the Cappuccino

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a cappuccino cup or a small mug, pour the brewed espresso. If you prefer, add a splash of the hot water to dilute the espresso slightly.

  2. 6

    Add Frothed Milk

Spoon the frothed milk over the espresso, allowing the foam to sit on top. Aim for a ratio of 1:1 espresso to milk to create a balanced cappuccino.

  3. 7

    Garnish

Sprinkle cocoa powder and/or cinnamon on top of the milk foam for added flavor and presentation.
