Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Pie Crust

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Form the dough into a ball, flatten it into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place the dough in the pan and trim any excess.

  5. 5

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Filling

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the corn syrup, sugar, and butter. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. 7

    Add Eggs and Flavorings

Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, and walnuts until well combined.

  3. 8

    Fill the Crust

Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading it evenly.

  4. 9

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
