Method

For the Cheeseburger

1

Prepare the Beef Patties

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently to combine, then form into 4 equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

2

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness.

3

Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

4

Prepare the Buns

Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

5

Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and a few onion rings. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard, then top with the other half of the bun.

For the Fries

6

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick). Soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

7

Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

8

Fry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel. Carefully add them to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.

9

Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt to taste.
