Cheese Curds

Marinara Sauce

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Curds

Start by patting the cheese curds dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, set up your breading station: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Curds

Dip each cheese curd first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Ensure they are well-coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully add the breaded cheese curds to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Drain the Curds

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried cheese curds to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 8

    Sauté Garlic

Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  3. 9

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, then add oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

  4. 10

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 11

    Finish with Fresh Basil

Stir in the fresh basil just before serving. Adjust seasoning to taste.
