Method
Blueberry Syrup
- 1
Prepare the Blueberry Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh blueberries, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- 2
Simmer
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blueberries have burst and the syrup thickens slightly.
- 3
Strain
Remove from heat and strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing the blueberries to extract as much liquid as possible. Allow it to cool.
Lemonade
- 4
Juice the Lemons
While the syrup is cooling, juice the 4 medium lemons until you have approximately 1 cup of lemon juice.
- 5
Mix Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, 4 cups of water, and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- 6
Combine with Blueberry Syrup
Once the blueberry syrup has cooled, add it to the lemonade mixture and stir well to combine.
- 7
Add Ice
Add 2 cups of ice cubes to the pitcher, stirring gently to chill the lemonade.
Garnish
- 8
Prepare Garnish
Before serving, add a handful of fresh blueberries and lemon slices to the pitcher for garnish.
