Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the onions

Slice the large onion into thin rings. In a skillet, heat the oil over medium heat and add the onions. Sauté until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Form the patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (about 8 ounces each) and gently form them into balls without packing them too tightly.

  3. 3

    Cook the patties

Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat. Once hot, place the beef balls in the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a nice crust forms.

  4. 4

    Add cheese and bacon jam

Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of provolone cheese on top of each patty. Allow the cheese to melt for about 1-2 minutes. Add a generous spoonful of bacon jam on top of the melted cheese.

  5. 5

    Assemble the burgers

Toast the burger buns in the skillet until golden brown. Place one cheesy patty on the bottom half of each bun, top with the caramelized onions, and close with the top half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the Sweet Meat burgers hot with your favorite side dishes.
