Mac & Cheese

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Macaroni

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the elbow macaroni until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for about 1 minute until it turns golden brown. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.

  3. 3

    Add the Cheese

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined.

  5. 5

    Serve

Spoon the mac & cheese into bowls and top with crumbled bacon and crispy fried onions. Serve immediately.
