Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, warm the milk and add the yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Mix the milk mixture into the dry ingredients along with the melted butter and eggs. Knead until smooth, then cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Roll the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.

  4. 4

    Form the Rolls

Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.

  5. 5

    Second Rise

Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly.

  7. 7

    Make the Icing

In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread over warm rolls before serving.
