Method

Pretzel Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Pretzel Shaping and Baking

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. 6

    Shape Pretzel

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, about 24 inches long, and shape into a pretzel.

  3. 7

    Boil Pretzel

In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil. Carefully place each pretzel in the boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 8

    Egg Wash and Salt

Brush each pretzel with egg yolk mixed with a tablespoon of water, then sprinkle coarse sea salt on top.

  5. 9

    Bake Pretzel

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Garlic Butter and Toppings

  1. 10

    Prepare Garlic Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese.

  2. 11

    Brush Pretzel

Once the pretzel is out of the oven, immediately brush it with the garlic butter mixture.

Dipping Sauces Preparation

  1. 12

    Mix Dipping Sauces

In a small bowl, combine ranch dressing with parmesan cheese. In another bowl, mix honey with the queso dip until smooth.
