Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Preparing Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and red onion. Prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast Buns

Optionally, toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, add a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty, tomato slices, and red onion slices. Top with ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top bun on.
