Method
Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 tsp of salt.

Cook Pasta
Add 1 cup of elbow macaroni to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside.
Making Cheese Sauce

Add Milk
Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens.

Add Cheese
Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, Monterey Jack, Gruyère, Parmesan, and cream cheese until fully melted and smooth.

Season Sauce
Add black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the cheese sauce. Mix well.
Combine and Serve

Mix Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the cheese sauce, stirring until all the pasta is well coated.

Add Optional Ingredients
If desired, mix in crumbled bacon or chorizo at this stage.

Serve hot in bowls or plates, garnished with additional cheese or bacon if desired.
