Sautéed Vegetables

Onion Strings

Cheese and Au Jus

Method

Preparing the Burger

  1. 1

    Forming the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and divide the mixture into 4 equal portions, shaping each into a patty.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Top each patty with a slice of provolone cheese during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Sautéing the Peppers

  1. 3

    Sautéing

Slice the red and green bell peppers into strips. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the bell peppers and Italian seasoning, cooking until the peppers are tender, about 5-7 minutes.

Making the Onion Strings

  1. 4

    Preparing the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin rings and soak them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Coating and Frying

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, and salt. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot. Dredge the soaked onion rings in the flour mixture and fry them in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Making the Au Jus

  1. 6

    Preparing the Au Jus

In a small saucepan, combine beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Heat over medium heat until warm, stirring occasionally. Serve alongside the burger for dipping.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Final Assembly

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. Layer the bottom bun with the cooked burger patty topped with sautéed peppers. Add a generous amount of crispy onion strings on top and finish with the top bun. Serve the burger with a side of warm au jus for dipping.
