Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Once done, remove from skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper to taste. Form into two equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Beef Patty

Place the formed patties on a preheated grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each beef patty and cover to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Prepare Onion

While the patties are cooking, slice the red onion into thin rings. You can also lightly grill them for a minute for added flavor if desired.

  6. 6

    Toast the Buns

Slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, add a beef patty with melted cheddar, two slices of crispy bacon, a few rings of red onion, and top with onion strings. Drizzle BBQ sauce over the top and place the other half of the bun on top.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
