Preparation

  1. 1

    Rinse the Cranberries

Thoroughly rinse 4 cups of fresh cranberries under cold water, removing any stems or blemished berries.

  2. 2

    Boil the Cranberries

In a large pot, combine the rinsed cranberries and 4 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Mixture

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the cranberries have burst and softened.

  4. 4

    Strain the Juice

Remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly. Then, using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a large bowl, pressing down on the cranberries to extract as much juice as possible.

  5. 5

    Sweeten the Juice (optional)

If desired, add 1 cup of sugar or 0.5 cup of honey to the strained juice and stir until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.

  6. 6

    Add Flavor (optional)

For added flavor, stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into the cranberry juice, mixing well.

  7. 7

    Chill and Serve

Transfer the cranberry juice to a pitcher and refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice or enjoy chilled.
