Cheese Curds

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Battering Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  2. 2

    Create the Wet Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir until just combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cheese curds.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Use enough oil to fully submerge the cheese curds.

  5. 5

    Batter the Cheese Curds

Once the oil is hot, dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully place the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Ranch Dressing

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. 8

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Serve the hot fried cheese curds immediately with a side of chilled ranch dressing for dipping.
