Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Dice the onion, chop the hot basil, and prepare your choice of protein (chicken, shrimp, or tofu).

  2. 2

    Cook the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet, one at a time, and fry until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. Remove and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Stir-fry the Protein

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the diced protein and cook until fully cooked through (about 5-7 minutes for chicken or shrimp; 3-4 minutes for tofu). Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

Add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the minced garlic and diced onion, sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

  3. 5

    Add Rice and Seasonings

Add the cooked jasmine rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps. Stir in the soy sauce, Sriracha sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined and heated through (about 3-5 minutes).

  4. 6

    Incorporate Hot Basil

Gently fold in the hot basil leaves and cooked protein. Stir for another 1-2 minutes until the basil is wilted and everything is well mixed.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Fried Rice

Divide the Sriracha fried rice among serving plates. Top each plate with a fried egg.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Optionally, drizzle additional Sriracha sauce on top and garnish with extra hot basil leaves. Serve immediately.
