Method

Preparing the Fries

  1. 1

    Fry the Potatoes

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the frozen French fries to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  2. 2

    Drain the Fries

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Season with salt to taste.

Assembling the Texas Fries

  1. 3

    Layer the Fries

Once all the fries are cooked and drained, arrange them in an even layer on a large serving platter.

  2. 4

    Add Cheese and Bacon

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the hot fries, followed by the crumbled bacon.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Place the platter under a broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

  4. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the platter from the oven and garnish with sliced green onions. Serve immediately with a side of sour cream for dipping.
