Method
Preparation
- 1
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
- 2
Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently stir until just combined; be careful not to overmix, as this can make the pancakes tough.
Cooking
- 4
Preheat the Pan
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with additional butter or oil if desired.
- 5
Cook the Pancakes
Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
- 6
Flip and Finish Cooking
Using a spatula, carefully flip the pancake and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and keep warm while you repeat with the remaining batter.
Serving
- 7
Stack and Serve
Stack the pancakes on a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fresh berries and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.
