Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Juice the Lemons

Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them. Cut each lemon in half and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.

  2. 2

    Make Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.

  3. 3

    Mix the Lemonade

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.

  4. 4

    Serve

Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves if desired.
