Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Rinse and Dry

Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Season the Fish

Season both sides of the fish fillets with salt and black pepper.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Beer and Whisk

Gradually add the beer to the dry ingredients while whisking until a smooth batter is formed. The batter should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.

  2. 6

    Batter the Fish

Dip each seasoned fish fillet into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.

  3. 7

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the battered fish fillets into the hot oil, frying them in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain the Fish

Remove the fried fish from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
