Preparation of Coffee Mixture

Brew the Coffee
Brew 240 ml of espresso or strong coffee. Allow it to cool slightly before using.

Add Sugar
Stir 50 g of sugar into the warm coffee until dissolved.
Mascarpone Mixture

Prepare Egg Yolks
In a large bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 50 g of sugar until pale and creamy.

Combine with Mascarpone
Add 500 g of mascarpone cheese and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to the egg mixture, mixing until smooth.

Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 240 ml of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Fold Mixtures Together
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
Assembly

Soak Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a 9x9 inch dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
