Steak

Shallots

Condiments (optional)

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the prime skirt steak generously with salt, black pepper, and porcini mushroom powder on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance flavor.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned skirt steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Shallots Preparation

  1. 3

    Sauté the Shallots

While the steak is resting, finely slice the shallots. In a small skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the baguette or sandwich rolls in half lengthwise. Optionally, spread mayonnaise and horseradish sauce on both inner sides.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

Layer the sliced steak on the bottom half of the bread. Top with the sautéed shallots and then add slices of white cheddar cheese.

  3. 6

    Melt the Cheese

If desired, place the open sandwich under a broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese slightly.

  4. 7

    Finish and Serve

Top with fresh arugula, place the top half of the bread on, and slice the sandwich in half. Serve immediately.
