Ravioli Preparation
- 1
Make the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- 2
Prepare the Pasta Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 3 large eggs. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 3
Roll the Dough
After the resting period, divide the dough into quarters. Roll out each quarter into thin sheets using a pasta machine or rolling pin. Ensure the sheets are thin but not tearing.
- 4
Shape the Ravioli
On one sheet of pasta, place small spoonfuls of the filling about 1 inch apart. Lay another sheet of pasta over the top and press down around the filling to seal. Cut out individual ravioli using a knife or ravioli cutter.
- 5
Cook the Ravioli
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Gently add the ravioli and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon.
- 6
Serve
Serve the ravioli with your favorite sauce, such as marinara or pesto, and garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
