Cheese Curds
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, mix the milk and egg together. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Batter the Cheese Curds
Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Cheese Curds
Carefully place the battered cheese curds into the hot oil, working in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried cheese curds with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
