Method
Waffle Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Waffle Iron
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until evenly combined.
- 3
Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- 5
Cook the Waffles
Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with cooking spray or a little melted butter. Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the waffle iron (usually about 1/2 to 1 cup, depending on the size of your waffle maker). Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, according to your waffle iron's instructions.
- 6
Keep Warm
Transfer the cooked waffles to a warm oven (about 200°F or 95°C) while you cook the remaining batter.
Topping Assembly
- 7
Prepare the Berries
Wash the mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.) under cold water and gently pat them dry with a towel.
- 8
Assemble the Waffles
Place a warm waffle on a plate. Top with a generous amount of fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream.
- 9
Add Maple Syrup
Drizzle maple syrup over the topped waffles to taste.
