Method
Preparing the Hot Chocolate Base
- 1
Heat the Milk and Cream
In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
- 2
Mix in Cocoa and Sugar
Whisk in the unsweetened cocoa powder and granulated sugar. Continue to whisk until fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- 3
Add Flavorings
Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly to reach a cooler drinking temperature.
Assembling the Hot Chocolate
- 4
Serve the Hot Chocolate
Pour the hot chocolate into cups or mugs, filling them about two-thirds full.
- 5
Add Whipped Cream
Spoon a generous amount of whipped cream on top of each cup of hot chocolate.
- 6
Sprinkle Toppings
Finish with chocolate sprinkles and a few mini marshmallows on top of the whipped cream for extra decoration.
